About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our client's service and maintenance team.
This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on hydraulic experience, particularly with heavy vehicles, trucks, mobile plant or similar equipment. You will be responsible for fault finding, repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance, with a combination of workshop and field service work.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on waste trucks, mobile plant and associated equipment
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair requirements
- Repair and replace components including hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, motors and other mechanical components
- Undertake basic electrical fault finding and troubleshooting
- Complete minor welding and fabrication work as required
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety and quality standards
- Travel to customer sites when required
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong hydraulic experience, including fault finding and repairs
- Solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on mechanical fitting experience
- Experience working on heavy vehicles, trucks, mobile plant or similar equipment
- Experience with servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Basic to intermediate automotive electrical troubleshooting skills
- Basic welding and fabrication skills
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work autonomously and manage field service tasks
A Certificate III in Engineering or Mechanical Trade qualification is highly regarded but is not essential. Relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated mechanical and hydraulic skills will be considered.
Licences & Requirements
- HR Driver's Licence preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
